Keevan D. Morgan

Unparallelled strategist, tough litigator.

Keevan Morgan has been practicing law in Chicago since 1977 and is a founding partner of his law firm, Morgan & Bley, Ltd.

Well known at Chicago’s federal bankruptcy courts for representing debtors as well as providing legal representation for numerous banks and other creditors, Mr. Morgan enjoys a reputation as an unparalleled strategist and tough litigator. At least one person has named a pet German Shepherd after him. Beyond bankruptcy, Mr. Morgan has extensive experience with all types of business law, from simple to complex transactions and litigation.

Since he was 25 years old, Mr. Morgan has served on boards of directors for various companies, including an insurance company, a finance company, a number of entities trading on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange, and a national bank where he was a member of the Loan Committee and the Ethics Committee and chaired a committee that established fair lending practices throughout the bank’s designated lending area. His position as a business "insider" gives him a unique perspective in advocating progressive business and governmental policies that he believes will benefit business in the long run.

Mr. Morgan has appeared before judges at courts that include the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit; U.S. District Courts in Illinois, Wisconsin, and California; and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Alabama. His representation of police officers against their own police department and the City of Highland Park, Illinois, was the topic of an NBCTV Dateline program in 2000. The officers accused the department of retaliation for speaking out about racial profiling and other alleged infractions.

Mr. Morgan is married and has three daughters. He is an avid reader and a Civil War buff, and during summers he travels the country far and wide collecting gold medals from various states’ Senior Olympic competitions in the long jump, high jump, javelin, and various races.
